Project Vision

Homing Voices explores “homing” as an ongoing process of making and remaking home—across languages, places, memories, and relationships. Migration stories are not only about movement across borders; they are also about identity, family histories, and belonging. This project positions storytelling as a civic and pedagogical act that strengthens community understanding and supports inclusive education.

Project Goals

  • Support educators in developing migration-centered storytelling pedagogies

  • Create a digital archive of local migration narratives

  • Foster dialogue across communities in Hampton Roads

  • Build sustainable tools for inclusive, community-based curriculum design

Project Timeline

  • Fall Workshops: three facilitated sessions focused on creative, linguistically responsive, and historically situated storytelling

  • “Story Night” Public Sharing: community exhibition and online story launch
